In Other News: your girl blogger reports from bed

Just because we're a little under the weather doesn't mean we can't still bring you a little info. Here's a bit of a roundup of recent thrifty news:

Arlington consignment shop Current has opened a second location in Alexandria, Virginia. Katie from WeLoveDC has some details. Current offers private, after-hours shopping parties for groups of 10 or more, so if your friends are as into consignment shopping as you are, call them up and make an appointment! We hope to visit this shop in the near future.

The DC Goodwill Fashionista has posted the second and third installments of ReUse, ReCycle, ReFashion with Miss District of Columbia. You have to get past the hokeyness of the series and the whole spinning crown bit that makes of jealous of Jen Corey's bling, because the series is pretty inspiring. If a beauty queen can furnish her new place at Goodwill, there should be no shame for others doing the same. When I move this summer, I'm thinking of doing something similar and outfitting the place in all secondhand items. Maybe I'll have to call Gillian for a little help!

From the Washington Post: D.C. embezzler Harriette Walters's ill-gotten goods sold to highest bidder. The DC tax manager's glamorous bags were auctioned off so that the city can get some of its cash back. I'm not sure if I'd want to buy items with that sort of history--nor can I plunk down $2,700 for a Louis Vuitton bag--but it obviously worked out for someone.

Later this week, we'll visit a Silver Spring thrift store that does it all in the name of charity PLUS we have some amazing heels to share. Stay tuned!
