Field Trip: Salvation Army - Takoma Park

I have a lot of love for the Salvation Army. But the location at Takoma/Langley Crossroads is a sight for sore eyes and not worth your time. (Look, half the lights are even burned out.) The location is small, and at first sight the outfits on the ends of the aisles seem worth a look. But you'll soon learn that the best stuff is on the mannequins, and the stuff on the mannequins isn't even that good. You know that basket of clothes you can't bear to throw out, but they're just a little too dingy to wear in public? That's this store.

I've only got one tip for you here: follow people. Not literally, but go straight toward the rack outside the fitting room (behind the shoes). That rack has everything on it that's worth trying on in the store. Someone else only passed it up because it didn't fit! So, scope out that rack if you're passing through. Don't waste your time among the racks unless you're looking for something very specific.

Where this SA location comes in handy is if you need a few small household items. Mismatched coffee mugs? You've got your pick. Need a pasta strainer for a buck? You can get it here.

But if you're looking for fashion, look elsewhere.
