Ginger Roots celebrates soft opening on U Street

I met Kristen and Erin earlier this year at Treasury. This past Friday night, I met them at a new shop: their own.

Ginger Roots, located at 1530 U Street NW, features local artisans and eco-friendly wares. When the store is ready for its grand opening (slated for September), you'll be able to check out original designs by ReVamped, Kristen and Erin's own label of restyled vintage clothing.

We showed up at their soft opening on Friday night sans Nikon, so I present to you a variety of photos taken with the high technology of my iPhone. We'll be back soon to visit with the young entrepreneurs and learn more about their growing inventory. For now. Photos. Lots of photos.

The displays in the new store are half the fun!

Kristen (long skirt) greets guests.

I'm weak in the knees for pretty ties. And this vest is made of them!

Congratulations to Erin and Kristen!

With a name like Ginger Roots, I thought it was going to be a Thai restaurant.

Sadly, no yummy Thai food. But if you see these girls in person, you'll realize they are seriously ginger. :)
